SEWER LATERAL COMPLIANCE POLICY
EFFECTIVE
JANUARY 1, 2007
Lateral
Compliance Extension Request $50 Fee
District Ordinance Code: Section 4.6.8
Extension
of Time for Lateral Repairs and Replacements.
A property owner may request that an extension of
time be granted for repairs or replacements that
are required as a result of testing associated
with the sale or transfer of property in a non-probate
transaction. Extension requests shall be in
writing and a copy of the residential purchase
agreement that clearly indicates the party
responsible for accomplishing the lateral repair
or replacement must be included with the time
extension request. The District will review the
request and may grant a time extension of up to,
but no more than, 180 days after the close of
escrow on the subject property.
District Ordinance Code: Section 7.4.1
The
fee for the Lateral Time Extension Request is $50.
In 2005,
the District revised its Ordinance Code and Standard
Specifications, and the District now requires property
owners to obtain a Certificate of Compliance
for their sanitary sewer laterals upon the sale of
property, prior to the close of escrow.
The
reasoning for this requirement is to help ensure that
sanitary sewers are operating properly, are not leaching
into the ground, and are not infiltrating the drainage
system that flows to the Bay.
Implementation
of this new policy began on SEPTEMBER
6, 2005.

following documents are provided as guidance to comply
